NYC GF-Friendly Eatery List

Below is the most recent NYC GF-Friendly Eatery List, arranged by neighborhood, borough, and state (there are some NJ businesses included). Listings are for places I have heard of, from businesses or diners; the venues with asterisks are places where I've personally eaten safely. (If you'd care to make similar notes and share, please do so in comments below!)

Please note: This is NOT a guaranteed safe list! Exercise your usual GF caution before dining, i.e. call ahead, ask about their processes, etc.**

This list is a work in progress. (I'll be updating it with new venues and hyperlinks along the way.) I hope it helps get you out in the world more often, enjoying safe social eating with the people in your life. So without further ado:

**Personally, I would not be able to eat at a number of the venues above, because I am so very sensitive to even small amounts of gluten. I am listing them anyway because I know there are people who are much less sensitive and would likely choose to dine at many of these eateries.

  1. I relied on your list on my last trip to NYC! I'm equally as sensitive, and wanted to share my results:

Nizza - I love this place and ate there safely over a year ago, but unfortunately had a reaction to something here. My dinner companions this time ate gluten - breadsticks - and it might just have been that.

Pommes Frites - I loved this place! It made me feel like a real New Yorker, standing in link with some of the hung-over kids.

Lilli & Loo - ended up eating here twice, as gluten-free Chinese is hard to come by! Felt safe enough that I had delivery, even...

Tu-Lus and Babycakes - was a little nervous about Babycakes using spelt in other products, but enjoyed both bakeries safely.

A couple of places that aren't on your list:
Riverpark - by far my best dining experience in NYC. I was really catered to, and know of many gluten-free friends that have ate at all of Tom Colicchio's restaurants safely.

Taim Falafel & Smoothie Bar - I didn't get over to this place, but I've had her protege's falafel - it is amazing & always gluten-free.

  2. Thanks for the feedback and suggestions! So very glad you found the list useful. Will add your suggestions in with the next update - and find a reason to go to Riverpark! The menu looks amazing - thanks for the hot tip!
