NGB Gluten-Free Lager

The line at my local Trader Joe's snakes past the beer and cider section. I love that they sell loosies and often pop an Original Sin Cider or Celia Saisson in my cart as I go past. As I reached for a cider this week, I did a triple take: A new gluten-free beer option - that I'd never heard of! - with a low (4%) alcohol content and at under $8(!) for a 6-pack.

Taste test: It's good. As advertised, it's "crisp and refreshing with hints of citrus". And, as I recall, only 120 calories per bottle! So, to riff on the old Schaefer beer slogan, NGB is a beer to have when you're having more than one (and still want to fit into your jeans).

Like a number of gluten-free brews, it's tough to find much info about this beer online. That it's made by Minhas Craft Brewery is as far as I could get. Anyone know more about this new-to-me beer?

  1. I wasn't thrilled with this one, I much prefer Bard's... what did you think?

    1. I think it's a good summer beer - really light. And just thrilled we have so many options these days!

  2. I love this beer. It is light and has that hint of citrus that I like. Goes down really easy. I was a Corona girl or sometimes Heineken but now that I am gluten free this NGB fits the bill. Hard to find -- Traders doesn't always have it so when I find it, I hoard. Anybody know any other place to get it?
