NYC GF-Friendly Eatery List

Below is the most recent NYC GF-Friendly Eatery List, arranged by neighborhood, borough, and state (there are some NJ businesses included). Listings are for places I have heard of, from businesses or diners; the venues with asterisks are places where I've personally eaten safely. (If you'd care to make similar notes and share, please do so in comments below!)

Please note: This is NOT a guaranteed safe list! Exercise your usual GF caution before dining, i.e. call ahead, ask about their processes, etc.**

This list is a work in progress. (I'll be updating it with new venues and hyperlinks along the way.) I hope it helps get you out in the world more often, enjoying safe social eating with the people in your life. So without further ado:

LES:
L'Asso: Offering GF pizza and pasta.
Beauty and Essex: Food allergy/intolerance-friendly. Meat and seafood-heavy dinner menu, including a raw bar.
Emporio: Food allergy/intolerance- friendly. Offer GF pasta and pizza.

Chelsea:
Bar Suzette: Creperie in Chelsea Market. All crepes can be made with a gluten-free batter upon request. (GF batter happens to be egg/dairy-free as well.)
*Friedman’s Lunch: Many, many GF options for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner. Located in the historic Chelsea Market which, p.s., can get really busy, especially on weekends. Take advantage of proximity to the High Line - get your food to go and enjoy it at one of the tables or chaise lounges along the newly expanded park!

Union Square:
Souen: (multiple locations with different menus) Macrobiotic restaurant. Menu is marked with items that can be prepared GF.
L'Annam: Vietnamese. They have a sister site on 28th St, which - as far as I know - is NOT GF-friendly.
*PIE: GF pizza. Delicious. Not available by the slice.

Gramercy/Flatiron:
Bar Breton: Buckwheat galettes
Blue Smoke: BBQ – with a jazz club one floor away!

*Chennai Garden: Indian restaurant where the majority of the menu is GF
*Asia de Cuba: Special occasion place. Pricey and kind of a "scene".

Sweet Melissa's Patisserie: Ice cream and some GF baked goods. GF items are made in separate area of kitchen, i.e. not dedicated GF facility.
*The Gate: Bar serving Redbridge. A GREAT place to meet up with friends, as it's BYOF (bring your own FOOD!), i.e. you can all order/bring food in from elsewhere and enjoy the patio or old school indoor bar.

PF Chang’s
Pizzeria Uno
California Pizza Kitchen
Bonefish Grill
Carabas Italian
Outback Steakhouse
TGIFriday’s

**Personally, I would not be able to eat at a number of the venues above, because I am so very sensitive to even small amounts of gluten. I am listing them anyway because I know there are people who are much less sensitive and would likely choose to dine at many of these eateries.
