GF Eats: The NYC GF-Friendly Eatery List

Below is an updated NYC GF-Friendly Eatery List, arranged by neighborhood, borough, and state (there are some NJ businesses included). Listings are for places I have heard of - from businesses or diners - or eaten at myself. The venues with asterisks are places where I've personally eaten safely. (If you'd care to make similar notes and share, please do so in comments below!)

Please note: This is NOT a guaranteed safe list! Exercise your usual GF caution before dining, i.e. call ahead, ask about their processes, etc.**

This list is a work in progress. I'll be updating it with new venues, hyperlinks, and a map (eventually). I hope it helps get you out in the world more often, enjoying safe social eating with the people in your life. So without further ado:

LES:
*Babycakes (Vegan/Kosher/Soy-free/GF cupcakes, cookies, donuts, and more. A must-go when in NYC.)
For summer 2011: Babycakes will have a beach stand in the Rockaways, at 96th St.! Check their website for details.

Nolita:
Rubirosa: (Italian, including pasta, with a separate GF menu.)

*Chennai Garden (Indian restaurant where the majority of the menu is GF)
*Asia de Cuba (Special occasion place. Pricey and kind of a "scene".)
*Bloom's Kosher Deli (Old school deli, complete with pickle tray brought to table upon arrival! Fantastic place to go for a diner breakfast like the kind you enjoyed before gluten intolerance. Reasonable prices and generous portions.)

Midtown:
Bistango (Very GF-friendly Italian – and they now have GF cupcakes!)

Times Sq.:
Ruby Foo’s (Asian food. A limited GF menu. Have heard only good things about their food and ambiance.)

Café Fiorello

Multiple locations:
5 Napkin Burger (One member of the NYC Celiac Meetup group reports that they have GF buns and a dedicated GF fryer. As always – be sure to inquire before ingesting!)

Brooklyn, Park Slope:
*The Gate (Bar serving Redbridge. A GREAT place to meet up with friends, as it's BYOF (bring your own FOOD!), i.e. you can all order/bring food in from elsewhere and enjoy the patio or old school indoor bar.)

Pizzeria Uno
California Pizza Kitchen
Bonefish Grill
Carabas Italian
Outback Steakhouse
TGIFriday’s
Le Pan Quotidian – (Have heard that they offer a GF quiche with an all buckwheat crust)

**Personally, I would not be able to eat at a number of the venues above, because I am so very sensitive to even small amounts of gluten. I am listing them anyway because I know there are people who are much less sensitive and would likely choose to dine at many of these eateries.
