Had the following exchange with a barista at a Park Slope cafe yesterday:
Me: Do you carry any gluten-free items?
Barista: (walking over to food case): These are vegan!
Me: ... but are they gluten-free?
Barista: They're vegan.
Me: [blink, blink] Okaaaay. But do you have anything that is gluten-free?
Barista: [blink, blink] No.
